Who we are

Broth is operated by MELANCIA METAFISICA UNIPESSOAL LDA, a company registered in Portugal (NIF 519312279).

The service

Broth is a recipe management and cooking assistant application. You can save recipes from Instagram, TikTok, and food blogs, plan meals, generate shopping lists, and use guided cooking timelines.

Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to use Broth. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. If you are between 16 and 18, you confirm that you have your parent or guardian's consent to use the service.

Your account

  • You must provide accurate information when signing up.
  • You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
  • One account per person. Do not share your account.
  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

Your content

You retain ownership of all content you create in Broth, including notes, tags, ratings, and custom recipes. We do not claim ownership of your content.

By using Broth, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the service to you. We do not use your content for advertising, promotional, or marketing purposes. We do not publish your content outside of your own account.

Recipe content extracted from URLs is sourced from publicly available web pages. Broth acts as a personal bookmarking and organisation tool for this content. You are responsible for ensuring that your use of imported recipe content is consistent with applicable copyright law and the terms of the original source.

AI features

Broth uses AI (via Anthropic's Claude) to extract recipe content, generate cooking timelines, and suggest ingredient substitutions. These AI features operate on content and sources chosen by you in order to extract and organise information. AI processing is performed at your direction and does not involve automated decision-making or profiling.

AI-generated content is provided as a convenience and may contain errors — including incorrect measurements, timings, or ingredient information. Always use your own judgment when cooking. We are not liable for any consequences arising from reliance on AI-generated content.

Beta program

Broth is currently in beta. Features may change, break, or be removed without notice. We make no guarantees about uptime, reliability, or data persistence during the beta period.

Beta testers who are accepted into the program receive 3 months of Pro access at no cost. This promotional access is conditional on providing feedback about the product via the in-app feedback form or email. MELANCIA METAFISICA UNIPESSOAL LDA reserves the right to revoke promotional access if the feedback condition is not met.

The Founding Tester badge is a permanent, cosmetic profile feature granted to beta testers. It carries no monetary value and cannot be transferred.

Subscriptions and payments

Broth offers a free tier and a paid Pro subscription. Subscriptions are processed through Apple App Store or Google Play via RevenueCat. Billing, auto-renewal, and refunds are governed by the respective app store's terms. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your app store account settings.

Prices are displayed in your local currency and may include applicable taxes. We reserve the right to change pricing with reasonable notice. Price changes will not affect active subscription periods.

Intellectual property

The Broth app, website, branding, and underlying technology are the intellectual property of MELANCIA METAFISICA UNIPESSOAL LDA. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the service.

If you believe content on Broth infringes your copyright, please contact us at support@getbroth.app with a description of the allegedly infringing material and proof of your ownership. We will investigate and respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Acceptable use

Do not:

  • Use the service for any illegal purpose.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer or exploit the service.
  • Abuse AI features (excessive automated requests).
  • Create multiple accounts to circumvent usage limits.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the service or its infrastructure.
  • Upload malicious code or content.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support@getbroth.app. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimer of warranties

Broth is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Recipe content extracted via AI may contain inaccuracies. Cooking involves inherent risks — always exercise your own judgment regarding food safety, allergens, and cooking techniques.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, MELANCIA METAFISICA UNIPESSOAL LDA shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or personal injury arising from your use of the service.

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from or related to these terms or the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or €50, whichever is greater.

Apple App Store terms

If you download Broth from the Apple App Store, the following additional terms apply:

  • These terms are between you and MELANCIA METAFISICA UNIPESSOAL LDA, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for Broth.
  • In the event of any failure to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims relating to Broth or your use of it, including product liability, regulatory compliance, or consumer protection claims.
  • In the event of any third-party intellectual property claim, MELANCIA METAFISICA UNIPESSOAL LDA, not Apple, is responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of such claim.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or the service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal. This does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer under EU law.

Changes

We may update these terms. Significant changes will be communicated via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of Broth after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
